Section 7 - Operations - Temporary

This unit will familiarize you with the operations for temporary assignments.

What is a shift?

A shift is a  punctual or one-time temporary request. The shift will relate a candidate to a client taking into account a set of defined criteria for each entity and availability of the candidate.

The request can be unique and processed as such: it is then a referred to as a punctual shift. A shift usually comprises a start and end time, and a deduction may be applied to the total hours, for a meal break, for example. A shift can also be divided into several work periods interspersed with periods not worked during the same day: these are known as "split shifts". Depending on the type of split, the candidate may then be paid only for the hours worked, or for the total number of hours.

Finally, a request can comprise several shifts, using the same identification number in the system: it is then referred as "grouped shifts".

Information and operations pertaining to temporary requests will be found in the section Temp request of the Home ribbon.

Up to version 5.7.1, the term “Replacement” was used to refer to “shifts”, a term that has been modified in the system as of software version 5.7.2. For this reason, the term “Replacement” may sometimes appear in some pages or screen captures.

The Temp request section gives access to 4 windows:

The Shift window (PRIM014): allows you to consult, modify or manage a specific shift.

The Add batch requests window (PRIM011): allows you to create one or multiple unique shift(s).

The window for Multiple temporary requests management, (or grouped shifts) (PRIM005): allows you to create, view, modify or manage grouped shifts.

The window for shifts management (PRIM007): allows you to manage all shifts.*

*In some situations, it will not be possible to manage grouped shifts in the "Shift management" window: the user will then be redirected to the grouped shifts window.
